A
message from our pastor
Dear Friends:
What
is it about Grace Lutheran Church that makes our church such a delightful
place to be? Three things, among others, come to
mind: Grace, Growing and Giving. Grace Lutheran Church is about
God’s gift of the Gospel (grace), living the Gospel (growing),
and sharing the Gospel (giving). We at Grace believe that God
calls the human race into loving relationship with himself through
Jesus Christ, whose life, death, and resurrection is at the center
of our faith. Jesus and his work comprises the Gospel, viz.,
the Good News that God’s goal is not to judge and to reject people,
but rather that he is looking to be merciful and loving towards humanity. We
at Grace believe also that the Gospel is God’s means (vehicle)
to help us to grow as individuals, families, and as a church community. We
live in an insecure world, to be sure, and all of us need to grow spiritually,
as well as physically and mentally in order to be able to live safe,
productive, and happy lives. Having a heavenly perspective unto
life everlasting with God, beyond death, our earthly perspective between birth
and death is blessed and nurtured for a better life here as well. Through
God’s Word and the holy Sacraments of Baptism and the Lord’s
Supper, God enables us to live the Good News of his real presence with
us now and forever. In addition, we
at Grace believe that the Gospel of God’s love
for all people in Jesus Christ is not for hoarding and keeping to ourselves,
but for sharing with others. Jesus taught that the greatest commandment
is to love God and the second greatest is to love people (Matt. 22:37-39). Grace
is a place of worship and fellowship that nurtures love for God and
people. Our people are friendly, accepting and giving, for we
want others to know the Good News, and not just we ourselves. Our
people are concerned about the poor, the downtrodden, the marginalized
and the excluded. Our people are concerned about the environment,
as we seek to become a church “more green” all the time.
We
at Grace hope that you will rejoice in God’s grace with us,
grow with us and share with us. We are a church that ministers
to all ages and all peoples without discrimination. Please feel
free to take a few moments to browse our web site. The directory
on our home page will help you to become familiar with our worship
life, educational, sharing, caring, and fellowship and serving opportunities. There
is a map to our facility and a calendar of coming events. There
are also helpful links to the web sites of The Lutheran Church Missouri
Synod, to the California-Hawaii-Nevada District of the LCMS, and others. I
hope to meet you at the door!
God’s blessings!
